First Airlie Fishing Trip

This was an interesting one! Judda’s motor had been in the shop forever so we decided to go to a remote creek, launch and use the tide to drift down and back. We thought it would look bizarre, having a motorless boat, but when we got there the ramp was so muddy it was impossible to use…. unless you had a motorless boat!

One person had actually removed theirs so they could launch, most turned away.

We got a lot of Bream, this was back when I was a Victorian at heart and was really impressed by Bream.

Got some crabs too, Judda made me handle them… I had youtubed how to do it, but obviously not very well as they took a notch out of my finger!

Fun on the Great Walk

The Great Walk is a trip in airlie, 33km from memory, an amazing bushwalk where you come out right in the middle of town.

I saw a massive python sunning itself on the trail, I threw a stick near it to wake it up! It saw me and got scared and left.

I also remember dropping my camera from the bridge into the river, fortunately it was shallow and a shockproof waterproof camera.

I used to be skinny!

Sea Kayaking around Shute Harbour

We got there and had a practice, he trusted me with a single kayak (everyone else had doubles) which I thought was interesting. Just because I was an agent in the area suddenly I was a good kayaker, despite never having done it before?  Is ‘kayaker’ a word?

Anyway we kayaked around for a bit, it was good fun powering along trying to keep up with the instructor and the doubles, they were going at a leisurely pace and it wasn’t too hard to keep up, but I got a semi-workout from it as well. Although it could have all been in my head since I wasn’t feeling great. But we went out to an island and played around there for a while, before going back. The instructor was telling everyone how this girl he knows was kayaking up the east coast or something, and it was starting to sound like a good idea for me. Just got to get a spare $5k to spend on equipment (read: it will never happen).
