Quick trip to the Blue Pools with my wife. It’s a very deep hole with some great scenery, an excellent place to swim. Came here a bit as a kid, thanks to *shudder* google maps and we took the wrong route and got there a bit later than we wanted. Not a lot of time to swim but it was about 28 so the water was refreshing but not too bad.

Night in Phillip Island
Finally the end of Group On!
Claire took us down for a night and it was actually pretty good. Waves was a good place to stay. The dates weren’t convenient as I had exams in a few days, but it was only a night and was a lot of fun.
On the way down we played some mini golf, the next day hit the beach.
The highlight was the Wednesday night, we had planned to go to the brewery for a meal. We went for a walk beforehand, but the beach was just so beautiful that we thought it would be silly to go for a pub. I got a fried rice, Claire got some pasta – we ate watching the water. Definitely the way to go.
Day Trip to Paradise Valley
Brad and the girls (and the other Brad and his girl) was going to Paradise Valley. Although I had university and could not actually camp, I decided to go down for a day trip. It was a very hot day, and it was so great to be able to enjoy the water – I haven’t done so since I was a kid. It was also fun to see the kids play there the same way that I used to.
Camping in the summer seemed like a great idea – though I have to say the wind was fierce at times. Once destroying a tent. Not sure if that is something that occurs in the summer, but that was the only drawback that I could see.
Lake Catani
Great spot, one of the best
Shared fireplaces a bit annoying
Turn left even though it says “day use area”
Map is misleading a bit, fireplace is right next to 59
42 and 46 are the best if you only have 2 spots
No way you could stay on those raised wooden platforms
Mt Buffalo – Day 4
Not much to write about for this one!
We woke up after the very loud thunderstorm and it was raining good!
We crammed everything into the car and basically took off straight away. The wet stuff made for a difficult clean up. Claire discovered quickly there was a “big thing” for us to stop at on the way home. If you didn’t know, she loves Australia’s Big Things. And so we did.
I’ll leave this write up with the best photo that I got from the trip – taken by the wife actually! Love the moon in the shot.
We spoke about how we could make this a yearly thing. Of course, Claire and I will have a 6 month old by then…
