Jim Jim Falls – Kakadu

Jim Jim falls is best known as the massive waterfall in Kakadu.

However this is the wet season Jim Jim, that is also closed to visit. When you can visit and swim there, Jim Jim is either a trickle or has no water coming down. But it’s still a great place to visit. It is one interesting walk… not that far but very difficult, as walking from large stone to large stone for 800m is pretty exhausting. The water is quite cold too, especially at the base. But if you’ve got the car to make it (strictly 4WD only) you won’t be disappointed.

Tjaynera Falls (Sandy Creek Falls) – Litchfield

Tjaynera Falls is amazing.

In Litchfield so easily accessible for a day trip, it has rudimentary camping facilities, though I have never stayed there.

It is down a 4WD track that is moderately challenging, you need to cross some water.

The bushwalk is moderate when you get there it is definitely worth it.

A great waterfall that flows all year round, a great swimming hole, and usually only a handful of people.

Florence Falls – Litchfield

Florence Falls is a good waterfall and swimming spot in Litchfield. It is paved and accessible by lots of steps. It is always crowded, you will be lucky to get in there on a Saturday or Sunday. If you have a 2WD go for it, otherwise I would use your car to get away from the crowds.

Most people have been here, it is very popular. On one hand, you can’t go to Litchfield and miss out. On the other hand, crowded swimming holes and crowded parking lots isn’t how I like to spend my time in a National Park.
